Can you believe that the 4th of July is just around the corner?  Here’s a tip for your 4th of July festivities.  Cold Fresh Coffee Recipes. Yep.  That’s it.  During parties, it just feels less awkward to have something in your hand.  Instead of a beer, try coffee.  Ah, but you want something thirst quenching with a party flair?   Then try these wonderfully refreshing party recipes.

Cold Brew Coffee Recipe – Low Cal!

cold brew coffeeIf you haven’t tried cold brew you should.  It’s super smooth and naturally sweet.  This is a great “party” drink.  Fast, easy, cheap, and great tasting. This recipe is an extract from a blog post my sister Karen wrote titled “Cold Brewed Coffee Helped Me To Lose Over 30 Pounds”, see link above.  It’s a real hoot and worth the read.  Try this cold fresh coffee recipe.

  • Start with our fresh roasted coffee beans
  • Grind according to your brewing method
  • Add  one part fresh ground coffee to two parts filtered cold water
  • Experiment using 1/2 tsp extract to an 10-cup pot.  For example, 1/8 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp vanilla or 1/8 tsp chocolate extract and 1/8 tsp orange extract.
  • Or put 2 Tablespoons of Ghirardelli Sweetened Chocolate and Cocoa into the pot with 1/8 tsp chili powder for a Mexican chocolate coffee.  This will only add an additional 25 calories.
  • Put it in the fridge at night and wait for the magic to occur.  It takes a minimum of 8 hours.  You must plan ahead.  Cold coffee is NOT the same as cold brew.
  • When you’re ready to serve your cold-brew, you can strain the coffee through cheese cloth, or just carefully pour off the top 2/3, leaving the sludge in the bottom.

Coffee-n-Beer

fresh roasted coffee beansIf you like coffee and you like beer, why not mix the two?  You talk about cold fresh coffee recipes that’ll knock your socks off!   ,You see all kinds of coffee-beers at the grocery store.  The problem with those beers are that they use bitter and burnt industrial coffee.  Some of the coffee-beers you can almost taste the coffee and others that’s all you taste.  Why not mix them yourself?  Here’s what works for me.

  • Start with our fresh roasted coffee beans
  • Grind according to your brewing method
  • Brew up an extra strong pot of our super fresh roasted coffee beans or use the cold-brew method described above.
  • Put it in the refrigerator for an hour or more.  Don’t add ice.  You don’t want to dilute the coffee.
  • What beer is best?  Whatever you like.  I’m partial to dark manly beers, but my wife loves “girl beers”.  So, use what you like.
  • When you’re ready, start mixing.
  • Some people will want a little beer with their coffee, others will want a little coffee with their beer. I personally like 25% coffee and 75% beer.
  • It’s a fun idea for any summer party.

Tequila Sunrise

fresh roasted coffee beansWhat’s a summer party without some Mexican food?  And if you’re going to eat Mexican, then you have to drink Mexican.  Right?   And what’s more Mexican than Tequila?   This is one of the best cold fresh coffee recipes.  It’s like eating pizza and drinking beer.  They just go together.  So, here’s my favorite summer time wake up call.
  • Start with our fresh roasted coffee beans
  • Grind according to your brewing method
  • Either brew up an extra strong pot of our fresh roasted coffee beans, then put it in the refrigerator for a few hours
  • Or, preferably, make up a batch of cold-brew, see recipe above.
  • Pour a shot of your favorite tequila over ice.  If you’re going to use gourmet coffee, please don’t use cheap tequila.  Use a top-shelf (i.e., the good stuff) tequila.  I’m partial to Don Julio.
  • Add cold coffee
  • Mix
  • Drink
  • Enjoy
